Frank Castle leaps into the fray on this 1989 Marvel magazine-format cover, skull emblem blazing on his chest as he surges forward armed and lit by a dramatic burst of light, flanked by menacing figures closing in from both sides with weapons drawn. The larger magazine format gives James Sherman's cover art — both pencils and inks — plenty of room to breathe, making the tension and raw energy of the scene feel genuinely imposing.
