“It Takes a Witch!...”

A red-winged demon looms triumphantly over a graveyard while a frightened young woman — clutching what appears to be a flashlight — looks up in terror at the glowing, shadowy silhouette of the Phantom Stranger cast between them. Luis Dominguez's cover art for this September 1974 DC issue balances dread and mystery beautifully, with that eerie green light carving the Stranger's presence out of the darkness. The promise of a backup Black Orchid story makes this a genuinely satisfying double dose of DC's supernatural side.
