The flaming skull of the Original Ghost Rider dominates this May 1993 cover in spectacular fashion — his blazing halo of orange and yellow fire erupts against a dark background as he thrusts a chain of hellfire directly toward the viewer, all rendered with striking intensity by cover penciler Darick Robertson and inker Brad Vancata. Inside, "Wheels on Fire" promises a story with writer Dan Slott and artist Dick Ayers bringing Johnny Blaze's era to life. It's a great snapshot of Marvel's early-'90s energy, arriving the same year the publisher celebrated 30 years of the X-Men.
