“Very Fishy Story”

The cover by Henry Scarpelli sets up a perfectly timed gag: a seated Archie holds a fishing rod dangling a tiny fish from the line, while Betty exclaims that Jughead caught something "that big," only to be corrected — he's bragging about a sandwich he ate. Rounding out the cheerful lakeside scene are Jughead with his fishing gear and picnic basket, Veronica, Moose, and a small white cat eyeing the catch, with the full gang also peeking in from the corner inset. "Very Fishy Story" in issue #8 captures everything endearing about the junior Riverdale crew — big personalities, small fish, and even bigger appetites.
