“Pa-ayper-Reggs!!”

In "Pa-ayper-Reggs!!," Harvey Pekar navigates a series of small, frustrating misplacements—keys, a book by Italo Svevo, even comics—amid everyday encounters that take unexpected turns. When he and Joyce find a wallet and return it, they’re rewarded with a surprising discovery: the lost charm and lottery tickets, all on the same day. Written by Harvey Pekar and illustrated by Joe Zabel with inks by Gary Dumm, this slice-of-life tale captures quiet moments of connection and coincidence. Drew Friedman’s cover captures the story’s wry, observational tone.

Harvey has been misplacing various items, including a key ring charm and a book by Italo Svevo. With Joyce he finds a wallet lying on the side of the road that they give to its proper owner. Joyce then finds some lottery tickets on the ground and the charm that Harvey misplaced. At a comic book store, Joyce forgets to take with her the comics she bought. After they get home, Harvey offers to pick them up right away to make up for the aggravation he caused her.
