The 2nd Chief Assistant Fiend sends Danny and two other demons out to commit vile acts: steal a child from its mother, get two friends to fight, and capture a Nightingale so that its tongue can be cut out. But Danny, not wanting to do bad things, is disheartened until Mr. Owl and the other birds of the woods decide to help him out.
