The Low, Low Woods #2

Part of Joe Hill's Hill House Comics imprint at DC Black Label, The Low, Low Woods #2 brings Carmen Maria Machado, artist Dani, and colorist Tamra Bonvillain's unsettling vision deeper into the woods. Sam Wolfe Connelly's cover sets an immediately haunting tone: a flayed, skinless figure looms enormous above an autumnal forest ablaze with amber light, while two small silhouettes — one with a bicycle — stand at the treeline below, dwarfed and unknowing. That contrast between the colossal horror above and the vulnerable figures below says everything about the atmosphere waiting inside this mature-readers series.
