The Lone Ranger #98

The Lone Ranger bursts through a wanted poster on this striking 1956 Dell cover by Don Spaulding, pistol drawn and black mask firmly in place, while a blue-bandana-masked outlaw lurks menacingly behind him. The torn "Dead or Alive" reward notice framing the scene sets an immediate tone of frontier danger and divided loyalties. Inside, Paul S. Newman's story "The Hollow Hero," illustrated by Tom Gill, promises to put that contrast between lawman and outlaw to good use.
