This 1954 Dell issue puts the masked hero front and center in striking fashion — the Lone Ranger stands tall on rocky canyon terrain, lasso mid-swing, his blue outfit and red neckerchief vivid against a warm sunset sky, while Tonto crouches nearby among the rocks and bare branches, pistol in hand and alert to whatever danger lies ahead. Hank Hartman's painted cover work gives the scene real presence, balancing action and quiet tension between the two partners. With 52 pages of Western adventure — including the interior story "The Overplay" by writer Gaylord Du Bois and artist Rex Maxon — all for a dime, this is a fine example of Dell's dependable Western storytelling at its mid-century stride.
