“Part One - The Night of Questions”
About this Collection

This hardcover collection presents the complete three-issue miniseries from DC's Helix imprint, a dark fantasy tale by writer David Brin and artist Scott Hampton. Set in an alternate history where Norse gods return to Earth during World War II, the story explores a devastating conflict between ancient mythologies and modern warfare.

In "Part One - The Night of Questions," the Norse gods clash with deities from Asia, India, and Africa over the fate of Earth, as the planet teeters between extremes. Lars, a young man clad in golden armor serving Thor, secretly aids a human resistance uncovering a deadly conspiracy: both pantheons are pushing Earth toward destruction. When Loki abducts key scientists and takes them to the World Tree, Lars makes a fateful choice to stay behind. Written by David Brin and illustrated by Scott Hampton, with a cover by Scott Hampton, this issue blends mythic scale with intimate moral stakes.

The Norse gods find themselves in conflict with the gods of Asia, India and Africa as they vie for control of earth. Lars has grown up to serve Thor, wearing a golden suit of armor to carry out his missions. His service is a sham, however, as his true loyalties lie with a small band of human rebels. They discover that the tropical gods are trying to heat up the earth while the Norse plan on starting a new ice age. All humans will die in both scenarios. Just as this discovery is made, Loki abducts the scientists and takes them to the World Tree for sanctuary. Lars refuses to go.
