Dan Panosian's cover for this fourth issue of BOOM! Studios' The Last Boy sets an eerie, enchanting mood — a figure in a ragged dark tunic and tall pointed cap stands with his back to us, facing a grotto pool where five wide-eyed, startled mermaids recoil in the shallows, their expressions caught somewhere between fear and disbelief. A tall ship glimpsed through the rocky waterfall passage and the lush, shadowy cave setting give the whole scene a dark fairy-tale atmosphere that feels very much at home in 2025's wave of reimagined fables. Panosian's rich linework and moody color palette make this one of the series' most visually arresting covers yet.
