The Kellys #24 brings the whole family to the door in this wonderfully chaotic 1950 cover by Bob Wickersham — a grinning young suitor arrives hat-in-hand with flowers, only to be intercepted by a suspicious, dictionary-clutching father while a girl rushes excitedly down the staircase in the background. Along the right edge, portraits of Pop, Mom, Mike, Pat, and little Goliath round out the cast, making clear this is very much an ensemble affair. At a dime for a big 52-page magazine, this teen-humor slice of mid-century family life is as charming and funny as comics got in the early 1950s.
