“The Harpies”
About this Collection

This volume collects the third set of classic James Bond newspaper comic strips, originally published in the 1960s and adapted from Ian Fleming's novels and original storylines. Featuring the artwork of Yaroslav Horak and scripts by Henry Gammidge and Jim Lawrence, it includes adventures such as 'The Man with the Golden Gun' and 'The Living Daylights.'

In "The Harpies," Bond races against time when a dead agent's intel points to a high-stakes hijacking of "The Golden Ghost," a new dirigible set for its maiden flight. With the help of a psychic's cryptic warning, Bond confronts Felix Bruhl—a shadow from Blofeld’s past—whose plan to ransom the VIPs onboard hinges on a deadly game of cat and mouse. Written by Jim Lawrence and brought to life with striking detail by Yaroslav Horak, this tense thriller blends espionage, aerial peril, and classic Bond flair in a story that’s as sharp as it is suspenseful. Madame Spectra tries to sell MI-6 information, but her agent is killed before the exchange can be made. However, a popular psychic's prediction tips Bond that the info concerned the maiden flight of a new dirigible, "The Golden Ghost". Felix Bruhl, main promoter of the project (and former associate of the late Ernst Blofeld) plots a hijacking in order to ransom the crowd of bigwigs onboard for 20 million pounds! He also tries to have Bond keelhauled thru shark-infested waters (shades of LIVE AND LET DIE), but Bond escapes and metes out justice to Bruhl & his thugs.
