The Haunt of Fear #1
In "Horror We? How's Bayou?", Tom inherits his uncle's estate—and with it, the enigmatic robot Adam Link. Though Adam proves himself kind and courageous, even risking his life to save others, humanity remains distrustful, culminating in a rigged trial over his right to exist. As the verdict looms, a moment of unexpected heroism forces onlookers to reconsider their prejudice. Written by Otto Binder and Al Feldstein, with art by Joe Orlando and colors by Marie Severin, this haunting tale explores fear, justice, and the cost of difference. The cover, a chilling masterpiece by Graham Ingels, captures the story's eerie tension.

Tom just inherited his uncle's estate, along with the robot, Adam Link. Despite the fact he is reasonable and polite, Adam continues to face persecution from humans. He even saves the lives of people trapped in a burning building, but nobody sees him do it. Finally, he is brought to "trial" to decide if he should be allowed to exist. The trial is a sham, though, and the verdict seems a foregone conclusion. While waiting outside to learn his fate, Adam saves a child from being killed by a car, causing onlookers to question their hatred of Adam. Then, the verdict comes: death by electric chair.
