When a young woman arrives in town claiming her father, a mountain man, has vanished without a trace, she has only one lead: Billy the Kid supposedly had a run-in with him. Determined to find out what happened, she sets off to track down the notorious gunslinger and get answers—by any means necessary. Billy the Kid stumbles upon Don Pedro Martinez tied to a spooked horse in the Mexican desert and saves him from certain death—only to learn the man's nephew, Ramon, is being held prisoner by the ruthless tyrant El Morte and his army of cutthroats. When Billy sets out to help, he finds himself captured and imprisoned in El Morte's fortress, where he'll need all his wits to escape and turn the tables on a powerful enemy determined to crush him.

When Billy the Kid intervenes to save Silent Joe from a would-be killer, he sets in motion a chain of events that leaves him framed for rustling and locked away—while the real culprits continue their scheme. Silent Joe, unable to speak and mistrusted by the townspeople, must find a way to help the young gunslinger and expose the true rustlers before the cattle herds cross into Mexico. With the odds stacked against them both, Billy and Joe discover that sometimes the strongest bonds are forged in the harshest circumstances.
