“Best Served Cold”

In "Best Served Cold," Mei Li, her wrist replaced with a mechanical claw forged by the same hand that built her new weapon, assembles the Teeth of the Dragon—four warriors bound to her vengeance. With the Crimson Wasp’s cryptic message leading to the zoo’s new tiger exhibit under a full moon, Britt rallies Mishi, Paul, and Hayashi, while her father Ikano in Japan senses her need and sends Kono to aid her. The confrontation at the zoo unfolds with brutal precision, as the Crimson Wasp faces Mei Li and her deadly enforcers—her resolve tested as the Dragon’s Claw closes in. Mei Li, with a mechanical claw grafted to her wrist in place of the hand disabled by the Crimson Wasp's sword (in #28), gathers four warriors of the tong to be her personal instruments of vengeance, the Teeth of the Dragon, whom she arms with special weapons fashioned by the same person responsible for her new "hand." When one starts to make a mild protest about the tong, she immediately kills him. Britt calls Mishi, Paul, and Hayashi to a meeting about a personal ad taken out in the Sentinel, reading, "CW: We have unfinished business. The Wasp will lose her sting on the night of the full moon near the Mistress of the Tiger. ML." With the elder Reid's knowledge that the local zoo has brought in a tiger for breeding purposes, and the fact that the moon will be full in two days, all is clear. Mishi has no doubts that this is an invitation to a one-on-one meet, and will hear nothing to the contrary. In Japan, her father Ikano mystically knows otherwise, pronounces Kono's training complete, and sends the young man to her aid. Two nights later, the Crimson Wasp, still refusing to consider the possibility that this won't be just the two of them, heads out to the zoo, where she meets Mei Li and her three Teeth. She fights valiantly, but the Dragon's Claw is soon at her throat! Continued next issue....
