The Goon #10

Eric Powell's cover for The Goon #10 reimagines the Spirit of Christmas Present as the Goon himself — a massive, flat-capped bruiser draped in a fur-trimmed green robe, holding a glowing torch aloft while a small, ragged child stands before a lavish spread of candelabras, a tiered cake, fruit, pies, and what appears to be a roasted boar's head. The sepia-toned, engraving-style artwork gives the whole thing the feel of a Victorian illustration that's been roughed up and dragged through Lonely Street. Powell's Dickens mash-up promises exactly the kind of irreverent, big-hearted storytelling that makes this series such a pleasure.
