Set in a brutal, primordial world before the great flood, this first volume of The Goddamned opens with a striking image: a white-haired, weathered figure crouched over a cliff's edge surrounded by skulls and bones, blood pooling beneath him against a desolate, ochre-skied wasteland. Jason Aaron and R.M. Guéra bring the same raw, uncompromising energy here that made their collaboration so compelling, with Giulia Brusco's color work lending the prehistoric landscape a smoldering, hellish atmosphere.
