The Friendly Ghost, Casper #85

Harvey Comics' lovable little ghost is taking the Arabian Nights for a wild ride in this 1965 entry — issue #85 finds Casper stretched out across a speeding magic carpet, much to the alarm of a mustachioed, fez-wearing passenger who looks far less thrilled with the supernatural pilot. The cityscape of minarets and rooftops below sets a storybook Middle Eastern scene perfectly suited to the "Aladdin, Jr. and the Magic Lamp" tale within. It's a charming, whimsical cover that captures exactly why Casper's cheerful brand of friendly haunting won over so many young readers in the mid-1960s.
