The Friendly Ghost, Casper #122

There's something wonderfully ironic about Casper the Friendly Ghost stopping to look at a movie poster — the little white ghost gazes curiously at a theater display for "Now Showing — The Monster," while a terrified green creature leaps in panic inside the poster's illustrated scene. Harvey Comics delivers a charming twist in this 1968 issue: the one being who should scare everyone is perfectly unbothered by a horror movie advertisement that's clearly unsettling plenty of others. A delightful slice of Casper's gentle, good-natured world where the scariest things around always seem more frightened of him.
