The Flash #17
This volume collects issues #16-20 of the 2023 Flash series, following Wally West as he faces a threat tied to the dark force known as Eclipso. The story delves into the Flash's rogues gallery and tests his speed and resolve against a cosmic-level menace.
In "Job Hunt," Wally West finds himself the only one unaffected as a mysterious glaive from space unleashes a strange radiation that sends Superman, Mister Terrific, Linda Park, and even a swarm of super-villains into a frenzy. Written by Jeremy Adams and illustrated by Fernando Pasarin, with inks by Matt Ryan, colors by Jeromy Cox, and letters by Steve Wands, this issue sees the Flash navigating chaos while tracking down the source—only to face the being behind the storm. The cover, by Brandon Peterson, captures the tension with a striking, otherworldly glow.
Wally West, back with Linda and the kids, faces a new challenge: finding a real job to support his growing family. Michael Holt offers him a chance at Terrifictech, but just as Wally starts planning his future, Mick Rory makes a devastating decision that sends him down a dangerous path.
Wally West navigates his first day as a full-fledged member of the Flash team, balancing high-speed heroics with the weight of newfound responsibility. When Heat Wave resurfaces with a puzzling new agenda, Wally must confront not just the villain’s latest scheme, but the deeper questions behind his transformation. Amidst the chaos, he earns the respect of his peers—especially Linda Park-West, Iris West [Irey], and Jai West—by drawing on his sharp mind and deep understanding of time and space.
Wally West takes Irey to her school’s Daddy-Daughter dance, sharing a rare, heartfelt moment before the event is thrown into chaos by the mysterious Dr. Nightmare, a villain whose power twists nightmares into terrifying reality. With Linda and Jai by his side, Wally must protect his daughter and the school from a threat that turns fear into something all too real.
In "Beacon of Hate," a strange glaive from beyond Earth unleashes a wave of radiation that turns even the most grounded heroes and villains into frenzied, hostile forces—except for Flash [Wally West], who remains unaffected. As chaos spreads across the city, Wally must race against time to uncover the source of the madness before the entire metropolis unravels.
In "Vengeance Is Mine!", Wally West and the Justice League Dark race against time on Gemworld to stop Eclipso from harnessing the realm’s ancient power, with Dark Opal as their only hope. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Irey West makes a surprising new friend while Jai West watches over her, unaware of the storm brewing across dimensions.
In "Vengeance Is Mine! Part 2," Wally West finds himself battling a possessed Justice League Dark on Gemworld, forced to team up with Dark Opal in a desperate bid to break Eclipso’s hold and prevent the entity from siphoning the planet’s power. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Jai West races against time to save Irey and Maxine Baker, who’ve been taken by Mammoth and Shimmer, as the stakes rise across both worlds.
In "Vengeance Is Mine! Part 3," Wally West finds himself outmatched as Eclipso manipulates the Justice League Dark into turning against him on Gemworld. With the fate of the universe hanging in the balance, Jai West, Irey West, and Maxine Baker join forces to reach him—only to confront the terrifying power of Eclipso, who seeks to harness Gemworld’s energy to eclipse all reality.
