The Field #1

From Image Comics in 2014, The Field opens with a cover that immediately signals something has gone very wrong — a shirtless, visibly distressed man clutches himself in a dark wheat field while a gang of motorcyclists bears down the road behind him, headlights cutting through the night. Looming large in the foreground is a sunglasses-wearing, cigarette-smoking figure whose cool detachment contrasts sharply with the chaos unfolding around him. Simon Roy's linework, colored by Simon Gough, gives the whole scene a tense, cinematic atmosphere that makes it hard not to flip to page one immediately.
