The Fantagraphics EC Artists' Library #23
"Smokin' Six-Guns!" is a grimly hilarious tale from the Fantagraphics EC Artists' Library #23, featuring the unmistakable art and inks of Graham Ingels, with lettering by Jim Wroten. Set at the Hampshire Surgeon School, it follows Professor LeMonet, whose desperate bid to keep his job leads him down a darkly absurd path of corpse-fueled ambition—only to find his own body among the dead. The story’s macabre twist and unsettling tone are perfectly rendered in Ingels’ signature style, making this a standout in the EC library.

At the Hampshire Surgeon School, Professor LeMonet is told that attendance in his classes must increase if he is to remain as a teacher there, so he digs up cadavers for use in his anatomy classes, and enrollment suddenly blossoms, to the Dean's delight. LaMonet decides to kill his competition to get the Dean's job, then sees an opportunity to become Governor as well. LeMonte hires men to go out and kill people along the waterfront area, and bring their cadavers to the school to impress the royal surgeon, but the men make a grievous error, for LeMonte's body is among the other corpses!
