The series was announced in August 2024, with BOOM! Studios pairing Iyengar — known primarily as a gamemaster and performer on Critical Role and Dimension 20 — with webcomic artist Mari Costa, whose prior work includes Life of Melody, Belle of the Ball, and The Demon of Beausoleil. Costa has described actively pursuing the collaboration after seeing the pitch for a fae-world story with stylized character design. The creative team is rounded out by colorist Angel De Santiago and letterer Jim Campbell, and the series was placed within BOOM!
