Three pest controllers stand back-to-back in desperate defiance as an overwhelming tide of giant, mutated cockroaches surges in from every direction on this Vertigo cover by Philip Bond. The central woman in a red shirt looks genuinely rattled, flanked by two armed colleagues — one in an olive jacket gripping a weapon, the other in a yellow shirt and wide-brimmed hat brandishing a spray gun — all of them braced against the insect horde closing in around them. Simon Oliver and Darick Robertson's "Crossfire and Collateral" arc reaches its fourth chapter here, and this 2007 issue makes a strong case that pest control has never looked quite this harrowing.
