The Dick Ayers Story #1
"In the Army Now" is a deeply personal story from Dick Ayers, who both writes and illustrates this introspective tale from Mecca Comics’ 2005 anthology. Drawing from his own life, Ayers recounts a pivotal time when he faced the pressures of early career demands—balancing creative assignments from Joe Shuster and Vin Sullivan, navigating a strained engagement, and confronting his own spiritual path—while serving in the military. The story, told with raw honesty and crafted entirely by Ayers, captures a moment of quiet reckoning amid the chaos of ambition and duty.
