“Why Did Dan Run Away From Home? He Really Had No Need To Roam!”

In "Why Did Dan Run Away From Home? He Really Had No Need To Roam!", Smasher finds himself caught in a chain of mistaken accusations after a chance encounter with his cousin Pete. When a stray ball sets off a series of escalating misunderstandings, Smasher becomes the scapegoat for two broken windows—only to see the blame shift unexpectedly onto Pete, who may have been involved all along. With art by Hugh Morren and a cover by Charles Grigg, this 1965 Dandy classic delivers a perfectly timed, slapstick tale of chaos and coincidence.

Smasher is walking along when his cousin Pete rushes past. As he does so, he passes Smasher a ball. A moment later an angry man comes round the corner, sees Smasher with the ball and accuses Smasher of breaking his window. Smasher runs away and then offers Tommy the ball. As Tommy bends down he drops his hod of bricks onto the angry man. Tommy throws the ball away and it breaks the window of another house. Another angry man comes out and starts to chase Smasher. Smasher passes his cousin, Pete, and hands the ball back. Both angry men then catch Pete as the culprit for both windows
