"The Golden Scarab" follows Miles as he obtains the third of four lockets bearing clues to the Ben Hassi treasure, engaging in sword fights and escaping from pirates before backing away from a jetty when he hears a tumult from a cave. Miles then boards a ship and climbs aboard to tell his astonishing tale to the captain, whose radio is used to notify authorities of the pirates' lair and the pirate chief's whereabouts. After landing ahead of schedule, Miles spends time in a bazaar gathering intelligence, then spots Nina still with the trading party and wonders how to effect a rescue; he manages to purchase the pirate's booty from eager traders before hurrying up a steep hill to a dirt enclosure where, following a whispered conversation, money changes hands and the Arab accepts Miles into the cart to begin his journey. The anthology also includes "Canyon Men," "Round Up of the Flying Fish," "Happy—The Man from Mars," "Captain Jumbo," "Captain of the Desert," "Don Deeds and the Racketeers," "Out of Doors," and various puzzles and instructional features.
