"The Golden Scarab" follows an Englishman and a dancing girl named Nina who encounter an elderly Arab at a gathering called "the Grapes." The Arab claims the dancing girl is the key to locating the golden scarab—a treasure that will lead to Ben Hassan's lost cache. When Miles and Nina are led into a trap by the Arab and his accomplices, a struggle ensues involving a hastily arranged back room fight and an escape through a window into the water below. The story concludes with Nina and her companions being recognized and captured by the Arab proprietor despite their precautions. The issue also includes "Round the World in a Flying Fish," in which Jack and Jill make an experimental trip around the world in their uncle's flying machine and encounter the Mandarin and a magical flying vessel, plus various educational and humor features including "Out of Doors," "Toy-Time Corner," and "Chuckles Corner."
