The Boys #50

Reaching its fiftieth issue is no small thing, and Garth Ennis and Russ Braun mark the milestone in style with "Proper Preparation and Planning Part Three." Darick Robertson's cover does the occasion justice, framing all five members of the Boys in a tight downward-looking circle — two upright figures in the foreground and three peering in from above — their dark coats and hard expressions set against a smoldering red sky that feels anything but celebratory. It's a composed, almost ominous portrait of the team that says, clearly, something significant is converging.
