The Boys #11

Issue eleven of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's sharp, subversive series kicks off "Glorious Five Year Plan Part One" with a cover that speaks volumes through studied simplicity: a bottle of Soviet-labeled vodka — bearing the hammer-and-sickle crest — sits center stage on a bare wooden table, surrounded by four empty glasses waiting to be filled. Darick Robertson's cover art wrings real atmosphere out of that spare image, the dim lighting and condensation on the glass hinting at clandestine meetings and uneasy alliances. If the title alone doesn't signal that The Boys are heading somewhere with a distinctly Cold War flavor, those four expectant glasses certainly do.
