In "The Bogie Man Chapter 1 Farewell, My Looney," delusional ex-patient Francis Clunie—still convinced he’s a Humphrey Bogart film character—flees Spinbinnie Secure and makes his way to Glasgow, where he unexpectedly encounters Taiwan Lil. Written by John Wagner and Alan Grant, with moody, atmospheric art by Robin Smith and lettering by Ellie de Ville, this issue sets a tense, off-kilter tone. The cover, by Mike Perkins, captures the noir-tinged unease of the story.
In "Chinatoon Chapter One: Barefoot in the Pork," the delusional Francis Clunie—still convinced he’s a hard-boiled film noir hero—flees Spinbinnie Secure and lands in Glasgow, where his next move is a barefoot sprint toward a bustling Chinese restaurant. There, he crosses paths with Taiwan Lil, setting off a chain of misadventures that blur the line between reality and his cinematic fantasies.
