The Ghost in the Machine, a creature of virtual reality akin to malware, has co-opted Waynetech's new AI platform and blocked all entry to the internet... including the Batcomputer and Oracle's bank of computers. Batman, Fred, and Daphne set out to track down the "real world" individual behind the Ghost-ware attacks, while Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby don Waynetech Virtual Reality Headsets ("...far beyond anything that's come before. It's as though they send the wearer's mind straight into cyberspace!") to penetrate the Ghost's firewall and track him from within the digital realm.
