A gathering of reserve Avengers discover that the High Evolutionary is up to no good and head deep under the ocean to confront him. They encounter Attuma attacking the Lemurians and convince both of the warring factions to help in their quest. The Beast tricks the human Gatherers into rebelling against the animalistic New Men. The Avengers confront the High Evolutionary and utilize his own equipment to empower Hercules so he can take the villain down. Jocasta sacrifices herself to stop the Evolutionary's bomb that would mutate every human on earth.
