The Atom #17
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis March 1965 DC issue puts the World's Smallest Super-Hero in one of his most visually striking predicaments: the tiny Atom, clad in his red-and-blue costume, is caught in a blob of sticky tar — pinned against what appears to be a massive rolling tire bearing down on him — with only a fraction of a second to break free or be squashed flat. The cover, penciled by Gil Kane and inked by Murphy Anderson, does a masterful job of conveying scale and urgency, making that looming wheel feel genuinely threatening to a hero measured in inches. Inside, Gardner Fox scripts the adventure "Case of the Hooded Hijackers!" with art by Kane and Sid Greene, promising all the clever, size-based problem-solving that made this series such a delight throughout the Silver Age.
