The Age of the Sentry #6
The Age of the Sentry wraps up its 2009 Silver Age love letter with a cover that promises everything the tagline delivers — the Sentry locked in dynamic combat with a scythe-wielding Death, while familiar faces including a masked blonde heroine and a snarling dog look on in alarm. Dave Bullock's clean, retro linework captures that perfect mid-century superhero energy, and the bold declaration of "a book-length epic imaginary story" gives the whole thing a wonderfully earnest vintage flair. If you've been following this affectionate Marvel pastiche, issue #6 looks like a fitting, go-for-broke finale.
