Tintin and Captain Haddock follow Professor Calculus to Syldavia, where he has created a moon rocket using his nuclear propulsion invention. Spies and saboteurs hinder the work, but at last they take off, accompanied by Snowy and fellow scientist Wolff. The launch goes well, but the crew are terrifyingly silent. No one in the rocket responds to radio calls from earth.
