A young man fleeing the Sheriff's pursuit finds shelter with Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men in Sherwood Forest, where he is given the name "Will Scarlet" and outfitted in red clothing. Robin Hood brings him to meet the King, and a maiden named Priscilla sings for the King to prove the young man's innocence; when the King appears unmoved, Priscilla offers to enter a contest to demonstrate his innocence, though the outcome of this challenge remains uncertain at the story's conclusion.
