Chris Condon and Jacob Phillips bring their slow-burn Texas noir to issue fifteen with a cover that's genuinely unsettling: a looming, masked figure with a stitched grin peers down over a chessboard where human busts serve as the pieces, one lifted by a yellow-gloved hand as though lives are being moved at will. Phillips renders the whole scene in moody, muted earth tones that make the image feel like a bad dream you can't quite shake — exactly the atmosphere this series has made its calling card.
