Terry and his companions' plane is shot down and catches fire during a pursuit by enemies. After crash-landing safely, Terry rushes to greet a group of friendly soldiers, but discovers they are actually pirates in disguise who have imprisoned the real soldiers. Terry and his friend Lance are captured by the pirates, who plan to hold them for ransom and force them to work as servants. In a tense confrontation, Lance fights back against the pirates, and the two manage to overcome their captors through combat and quick thinking.

Lance O'Casey Raids the Antarctic Hide-Out!
6.67 pp · Adventure

Lance O'Casey and Mike Bellew sail to Antarctica on a penguin-hunting expedition for a circus, only to stumble upon the frozen hideout of notorious crook Gunner Shaw and his gang—who've chosen the desolate continent as the perfect place to lay low after a major heist. Forced into servitude by the criminals, Lance and Mike must use their wits and the local wildlife to turn the tables and get themselves and their ship to safety.

The Grand Vizier's Reward
2 pp · Drama

In ancient India, a king offers his grand vizier Sissa Ben Dahir a rich reward for inventing the game of chess, but the modest Sissa requests something far more clever: one grain of wheat on the first square of a chessboard, doubling the amount on each successive square for all 64 squares. What begins as a seemingly simple request becomes a lesson in exponential mathematics when the kingdom's entire wheat supply runs dry before the reward can be fulfilled. This tale proves that even a king's generosity has limits when figures that never lie turn out to be unexpectedly deceptive.
