Teen Titans Year One #2
Part two of DC's Teen Titans: Year One puts Aqualad front and center, and the cover by Karl Kerschl and Serge LaPointe captures his uneasy predicament beautifully — the young hero sits hunched in a red wetsuit top, surrounded by an eerie crowd of deep-sea creatures including sharks, angler fish, and glowing-eyed denizens of the deep, his expression somewhere between melancholy and wary. The tagline "Fish Out of Water" is a perfectly placed bit of irony given that he's very much in the water here, yet clearly not at ease. Amy Wolfram's six-part origin series continues to reimagine the early days of DC's young heroes with a charming, storybook visual style that makes this 2008 miniseries a genuinely warm read.
