“Stuck in the Sixties or Woodstock Ain't Nuthin' but a Bird”

In "Stuck in the Sixties or Woodstock Ain't Nuthin' but a Bird," former Woodstock-era convict Sam Ransom returns to a world he no longer recognizes after 16 years behind bars. Written by Mark Evanier and Sharman Di Vono, with art by Dan Spiegle and colors by Jerry Serpe, this 1988 Teen Titans Spotlight issue follows Sam as he struggles to adapt to the present—only to deliberately sabotage a new crime in hopes of being caught by the Teen Titans and returning to the prison he now calls home. The cover, also by Dan Spiegle, captures the era's spirit with a retro flair.

Sam Ransom is released from prison after 16 years for the robbery he and three friends committed during the Woodstock festival. He finds his friends changed, and the world a different place from what he remembers from the late 1960's. He goes to work for one of his old friends who is now a major drug pusher, but he purposely botches a robbery to attract the attention of the Teen Titans and be sent back to prison, the only place he feels comfortable.
