This anthology issue contains two main stories. "Schiff's Shoes" follows a nature-loving man whose hiking trip in the countryside results in mishaps involving livestock and an ant hill that interrupt his peaceful outing and lunch. "A Teen Timers Champion: Babe Didrickson" recounts the life and athletic achievements of Mildred Ella Didrickson, born in Texas in 1914, who earned the nickname "Babe" and went on to have a spectacular basketball career at Beaumont High School, play for the Employers Casualty Company team, and compete in track and field events, ultimately aiming for the 1932 Olympics where she entered as a one-woman team against the strongest women's athletic aggregations in the country.

Babe Didrickson

Mildred Ella Didrickson earned her famous nickname and proved she wasn't just a one-sport athlete—the Texas tomboy dominated basketball, softball, and track before setting her sights on the 1932 Olympics. Despite being entered as a solo competitor against full teams of elite women athletes, Babe's confidence and all-around skill made her a force across multiple events, including javelin, hurdles, and the high jump. Her competitive fire didn't stop at track; she went on to excel in tennis, swimming, diving, and ultimately found her greatest passion in golf, where she became a champion tournament competitor.
