This is an anthology issue containing at least two stories. "Prom Trouble!" follows Lucy, a girl whose long relationship with Jim has grown cold; her father gifts her a grey suit for prom, but she lacks a formal dress and must find a way to afford one. Don, a shy boy from school, helps Lucy find a formal gown and the two grow close, eventually replacing her lost love for Jim. A second story shows a girl named Sybil meeting Don at the library, where he helps her find a book; Don later takes Sybil on an evening walk through town, where he describes romantic ways to cross a river to her, and the two grow increasingly intimate as Don reveals his romantic nature and desire for a lasting relationship.

I Played Kiss and Run
8 pp · Romance

A young woman learns that managing her romantic popularity comes with a price when her strategy of flirting without commitment catches up with her—each boy she dates eventually discovers she's playing the same game with them all. As Joyce navigates between Jackie, Walt, and the seemingly ideal Kent Barnes, she realizes that her "kiss and run" approach to keeping her social standing may cost her something far more valuable than a full dance card. Written with the diary-entry candor that made Teen-Age Diary Secrets essential reading for 1949 readers, this story captures the messy real stakes of teenage romance and reputation.
