Korak blir vägvisare åt professor Julian Marcos och hans medhjälpare Louis Randolph och Bart Kirby samt journalisten Ed Bailey. De är på jakt efter ett sällsynt fossil som Marcos säger sig ha hittat tidigare i djungeln. En efter en börjar expeditionens deltagare dö i "olyckshändelser". Korak hittar Ed Baileys bandspelare, där denne innan han dör löst mysteriet: Marcos och hans kumpaner tänkte sälja storyn och den ödesdigra resan till tidningarna, det hade aldrig funnits några riktiga fossil. Deras girighet blir dock deras fall då de onda männen dör en efter en i djungeln.
