"The Ghost Came to Life" is a bizarre, surreal tale from Target Comics #1 (1943), narrated by Niles Reed—aka The Target—to artist Ed Ryan. In a story that blends wartime fantasy with divine intervention, The Target captures Hitler and attempts to deliver him to American justice, only to be confronted by a speaking cloud with outstretched hands—God himself—who puts the dictator on trial before sending him into a storm of machine gun fire. Art by Edward Ryan and Sid Greene brings the story’s surreal vision to life, with Ryan also handling the inks.
