Tales of the Vampires #3

From the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dark Horse's anthology series continues with this third installment, bringing together writers Joss Whedon, Jane Espenson, and Drew Goddard with artists Jason Alexander, Ben Stenbeck, and Alex Sanchez. Eric Powell's painted cover sets an unsettling, operatic mood — a pale-cloaked vampire looms imperiously over a swooning woman in white, flanked by grotesque little skull-faced demons playing stringed instruments before blood-red curtains, as if presiding over some macabre private concert. It's a gorgeously atmospheric package that captures exactly the kind of darkly theatrical horror this series delivers.
