Tales of the Unexpected #58

From DC's Tales of the Unexpected comes this February 1961 sci-fi treat, featuring the featured story "The Boss of the Saturnian Legion" — and Bob Brown's cover makes quite a first impression. A human hero in a yellow shirt and blue trousers stands his ground as a large, red bear-like creature growls protectively at his side, while two unsettled alien figures — one green, one pink and wide-eyed — react in alarm, with a speech bubble revealing the startled cry: "He isn't Tark, our leader — he's Space Ranger!" It's a wonderfully energetic snapshot of the kind of imaginative interplanetary adventure that made DC's early-'60s anthology titles such a delight, all for a dime.
