Tales from the Darkside #2

Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez bring their darkly inventive sensibilities to this second issue of IDW's Tales from the Darkside, where a wide-eyed man clutches a glowing, mysterious cube while an enormous, menacing face looms behind him — its glowing eyes suggesting something far older and stranger than any puzzle box should contain. Tentacles creep in from the edges, and a checkerboard of dice and skulls fills the background, setting a mood that's equal parts dread and cosmic unease. If Gabriel Rodriguez's cover for "The Black Box Part 1" is any indication, this 2016 series has no shortage of unsettling imagination to offer.
