This issue contains two stories. "No Way Out" follows Jeanne, a self-centered woman who abandons her father to pursue a professional golf career, leaving him devastated. When her father later confronts her with her mother Johanna, Jeanne realizes the error of her ways through their emotional confrontation. In the second story, "A Spite of the Open Face," a woman named Jane White deceives a man by posing as someone else at a roadside diner, claiming to be a farm worker when she is actually a theatrical performer stranded with a traveling troupe. When the man later brings Jane to his mother's farm, the deception is eventually revealed, but Jane's presence helps fill a need on the struggling farm.
